This project began with a simple design consultation regarding the feasibility of major additions to a small bungalow on a narrow Palo Alto lot Ultimately, the project grew to involve the demolition of the original structure and the design, engineering, and construction of an entirely new 2-story, 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home. The house was designed to optimize functional spaces within the residence while conforming to existing floor area, lot coverage, and building envelope restrictions within the City of Palo Alto. Financing was provided by Silicone Valley Bank who also oversaw the construction. Their overview of the project validated this project's cost effectiveness as well as the merits of the design/build approach.
